These words keep ringing in my ear, as I watch the images coming from Texas. I am sure that I am not alone in thinking that “my neighbors” are in need. Though they may live many miles away, my humanity and my Judaism charge me to do an act of kindness.
We may be busy preparing our kids for the coming school year. We may be overwhelmed with our work demands. We may even be trying to enjoy some beautiful family moments during a vacation. Regardless of our state, we must to do an act of Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World) by offering our support. I have specifically supplied you with a few organizations that are doing direct service to the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Not only have I listed the Red Cross, but I have also provided a link to the URJ’s (The Reform Movement’s) support page. On that page, you will see that our movement is utilizing one of its Summer Camps to help residents in need. They are also suggesting a few other organizations that are mentioned on their page.
